Hi Sonja,
I got to look at your web page finally. There is a lot of good stuff here. I got a pattern for baby booties and also looked at the recipes. I might try a few of them. The one with the bread dough with the meat and cabbage filling looks like a good one!
Take care,
Carol (from IPMR therapy) |

Dear Craftingranny,
Almost 30 years ago my Mom tried a rainbow afghan pattern. She gave up. I found your pattern and now I'm trying to make this for her Christmas present. I'm up to sewing the fans together and don't get how row 3 matches up with row 2. I would really appreciate any help you can give me on this. After almost 40 years of crocheting I've found my hardest challenge. Thanks, Wanda |

Oh, you still amaze me.... I was looking at your crafts and saw the red heeled monkeys, and wondered if you have a pattern, or if you could point me to a site that has it? They are so darling and my sister would love one of those. She talks about them all the time and she is 62!
Your site is just as wonderful as I remember. I haven't been on for a while..... but here you are!!! So wonderful!

I would like to make a version of your layered cross to give to my local hospice for them to hand out to their patients.
Would you please send me the pattern as I can not enlarge it and print it off your site? I know you have been kind enough to write out the instructions on how to cut out the pattern but I keep messing up and wasting canvas while trying to cut out the pattern.
Thank you very much

Thank You Thank You. I have been looking and looking at what seems forever for a pattern for a plastic canvas calendar. I have looked all over the internet. Then as I was about to give up I came across your web site from another web site and there it was. Your beautiful wall calendar pattern. The pattern is very clear and easy to read. Thank you for taking the time to make it for all of us that are looking for a calendar pattern.
I pray that you will have a great and blessed day.
Thank YOU

Thank you so much for the Rainbow Afghan Pattern, I made this decades ago and loved it. Still on my bed. Grandchildren and others have asked for one but could never find the pattern. My serious computer search this morning was successful.
Wow!!! This day has started out better than expected.

Sonja,
What a fun website. I especially enjoyed seeing the family pics and reading your amazing poetry. You are a gifted gal, for sure.
Since my interest in crafts is on hold (teaching takes all my time...which I love!), I look forward to the day when I can take advantage of your expertise.
What a sweet spirit we had in church yesterday. God is good, and good all the time!

I have made this pattern which is great but i think that i am missing something when I sew up the back. My comes into like a triangle as opposed to a square flap like it seems yours are. Is there something maybe I'm not doing right or is the pattern missing a step. Please help. Thanks, Beatrice |

Was a nice game of Canasta today. I am enjying your website and will return when I have more time to dedicate to it, I will also let you know if I try any. The other lady who wrote 7/25 should try knitting for the needy: homeless, shut ins, service personnel. It is truly rewarding just knowing you did it, not having to see it in use..

Sherry Barbour - 7/25/2009 11:19:30 PM
I have begun crocheting and knitting again after a break of, oh....25 years or so! I have knitted enough scarves for every person I know to get one, plus quite a few people who never heard of me. I have crocheted enough potholders to supply thousands, and knitted enough slippers to supply the entire Army, Navy, and Marines, and afghans, too. I am looking for things to make that will be useful - not just a shawl that will sit in someone's drawer after they wear it once (so I can see them in it.) Suggestions? |

Suzanne - 7/25/2009 11:18:47 PM
Hi,
I love the rainbow afghan. It looks very similar to a pattern I saw in a book once. I've been trying to find the book for ages because there was also a harlequin quilt-style afghan pattern in the book that I really want to make, but I can't remember the title. Did you get this rainbow pattern from that book or is it your own design? Any help would be appreciated. No need to write back if you have no idea what I'm talking about. Thanks!

Hi :)
I found your navajo afghan jacket and was reading through the pattern.
You give the size as fitting 10-12. Is that for a child, size 10/12? or for an adult?
I've been looking for this type of pattern for a long time and am really happy to have found it along with the Navajo blankets.
Regards,
Angel |

Do you mean 'back' ??
If I was better at reading crochet instructions, I'd make this!!

Dear Craftin' Granny,
I just discovered your website and decided to drop a line. I am a recent college graduate and now have more time for crafting. I already knit, but I got a sewing machine for Christmas. Do you have some suggestions for some simple beginner projects that are still useful and/or "neat"? Thanks so much for your awesome website.

Hello Sophia:)
Just wondering if you ever "configured" the pantaloon/bloomers pattern for readability (is that a word? LOL)for others.
I am finishing a new outfit now |
|
Susan - 6/8/2009 8:47:40 AM
I LOVE the style of this pattern! I've seen it before & have collected 1000's of patterns over the past 30 years...Thank you sharing it!
I'm having a bit of a problem with the booties. When I finish the beginning chain and I'm on round 2 & (making 1st round of shells/fp st) I think I'm making too many. Can you tell me how many should be on the row? I haven't done the "beading" as I was practicing first. I'm just sort of lost right now.
Thanks in advance! I'm giving it at a baby shower on Saturday. The baby is my friends' 1st grandchild, a girl:)

Hi~
Years ago when I was a teenager, I started to make The Promise rainbow afghan. But I wasn't very focused on finishing the project. I thought I wrote down all of the pattern to recently find out that I didn't. So the search began to find the pattern. I spent many days (sporatically) trying to find it and couldn't. I can't tell you how shocked I was to finally find it on your site!!!! So, now I guess I must finish that very old unfinished project!!
Thank you very much. Have a great day. |

Hi, Haven't been here for a while. Since I was here we've had two more grandbabies, that makes seven. I have been involved in Bible Study Fellowship (BSF International if you are trying to find it on internet, great Bible study which is world wide) and our church. Our God has been good and I love Him more today than yesterday. Studying Moses has been another example of God's care and the obedience He exects from us and His grace. Even if we mess up, He still loves us. Amazing Grace! Just wanted to stop by and say hi. I see you still have The Garden Beyond on the site. That did my heart good. All your poems are wonderful. Hugs, Cynthia McKee |

Tina - 1/30/2009 9:45:47 PM
My great-grandmother used to make us knitted slippers when I was little. I am a beginner so I am still learning. I actually still have a slipper that she made and it looks like it was made in four parts. The top of the foot, the bottom of the foot, the ankle, and then the cuff around the top of the ankle. Do you have any idea where I may be able to find a comparable pattern? I am guessing the pattern is from the 1940's because I printed one online that was comparable.
Thanks, Tina |

Just discovered your website yesterday (Jan 14). Have made the little crochet baby set sweater and absolutely love it. It was a pleasure to crochet and looks beautiful. I want to make the afghan but I am a little unsure of how much yarn to purchase. You only state 5 skeins but do not give the ounces required. I would appreciate if you could let me know. Thank you so much. |

Last September I was looking through your site and found a poem about "Grandma's Apron". I printed it out, but now can only find the last half of it. I thought it would be nice to put with a little wall hanging I am making from my grandmother's and mother's old aprons and hankies.
I wanted to make one for each great grandchild I have, but they are numbering too many. LOL
I Thank you in advance for being able to help me find the beginning of this wonderful poem.
Keep up the good work with your site, and I will check back often to see what's new.
God Bless. |

My mom had a pattern for a rainbow afghan from back in the early 80's and has missplaced it. She recently had a brain aneurysm and is recovering well and she has been doing a lot of crocheting. Is there any way you can send a larger picture of your rainbow afghan for her to look at and see if that is similar to the one she had? I would truely appreciate it if you could.
Thanks,

I came across your website by accident, looking for patterns for knitted slippers. My nephew requested that I knit him some. He's in the process of upgrading his house & will have hardwood floors, that will require slippers in the wintertime.
I enjoyed your website, esp. the music with each passage. Have printed many pages & have sent my sister-in-law your views on getting old.
I'm going to add your website to my 'favorites' so that I can return often.

Thank you for the worderful heartfelt blessing I received upon my finding your website. I just purchased my computer 3 months ago and have just started doing pattern searches for knitting and crochet patterns. This is my third time to your site, I, and my Sons have been going thru a horrific time this past year and Thursday was an especially emotional day for me, and the lovely poems, saying's,were bittersweet as well as a balm for my very battered heart and soul. I know the Lord led me to your site for this time in my life, Some of the music was healing, some brought back special memories, and some took me to the time when I had no cares, and some to when I did. So I have cried, smiled and laughed, sighed and thought Oh Wow!!! haven't heard or thought of that in ages. So thank you, thank you for listening and following the Good LORDS guidence in setting up your site. The Patterns are some that I will be doing in the near future when this some of this upheaval is over.

Iam crocheting the blue field to the American Flag but need help on the stars.
The directions I understand but laying them on the blue is something else.
How far down and in do you start the 1st star for attachment and in between to the next star, no stretching of the star I take it, just lay flat and you said to leave 12" tail for sewing. How are they to be sewn on?
When starting for the 2nd row of 5 stars across, how many sts do you come in to start the 1st of 5 and in between for the
2nd star.
I know it says to follow the picture but is there an illustration for all of this, one can't really see much from the picture itself.
Hope that you will take time to answer my letter, this afghan is way long over due since mid 2003 and I would like to finish it as I have promised.
Thank you and have a nice day!

Hi. I would love to make your Navajo Indian Afghan Jacket. I have 3 questions please.
(1) I wear a size 20/22, how many sc should I start the fronts and back with?
(2) How do I join the fronts to the back?
(3) How do I join the sleeves to the jacket?
(4) When these are all joined, what size with the neck opening be? I added it and came up with 276 but that doesn't sound right. Am I doing something wrong?
I would like to make a jacket for myself, my daughter, and my grandaughter. Please help me with my questions. Thank you and I hope to hear from you.

About 20 years ago, one semester while I was in college, I was given this fantastic rainbow afghan pattern. During that semester, amidst my studies (or lack thereof at times...) I crocheted that afghan. I still have it, or I should say my son has it on his bed. It's been many years and many projects later, but I'd thought I'd love to make another. My son thinks he will be taking this one some day when he grows up ;-)! But I could NOT find the pattern.
Then I found your site! You have the exact pattern I was looking for! I didn't think I would EVER find it again. Thank you thank you for putting it out there!
Your site and devotion come through clearly here. God Bless. |

Joye Baker - 11/6/2006 10:54:05 AM
Hi There. I have an unusual story.......when my mother died in 1995, (a year after Hurricane Andrew) in going through her house, every time I opened a cabinet or cubbie hole there was another finished afghan. It was the "Prize Winning Chain Afghan". All in different colors, etc. Then I found a large clear plastic bag with lots of yarn, the directions, and a half completed afghan, the same pattern made in varigated black, grey, white, etc. She didn't have enough time on earth to complete it. My stepfather was going to throw it out but I refused to let him do away with it. I brought it back to Houston and one day sat and taught myself the directions and finished the project. I had my daughter crochet the last 5 or 6 rows because my hands were getting tired, and my granddaughter cut the pieces for the fringe and looped them on the top and bottom of the project. I have an afghan that 4 generations of my family have worked on. I don't think many people can say that these days! I always wondered where the directions came from......my mother's copy was almost falling apart. I decided to search for the "Prize Winning Afghan" as hers was labled just for a joke, and I came to your website. I'm so glad I searched. I've printed several copies just so I won't lose any. I myself have made at least 15 of these for my 3 daughters, my 3 granddaughters, and myself. What an easy project. Joye Baker, Houston, TX |

Cynthia McKee - 10/28/2006 9:55:54 AM
Dear Craftingranny~ You make beautiful things.
I loved your website. You also had the slipper pattern I've been looking for. My
grandmother made them and she passed in 1994
at the age of 98. I recently retired from my
job at State Farm and my husband loved those
slippers, so I am taking knitting classes, crochet classes and am also making a pieced quilt. I know I've really thrown myself into the thick of things. I also have six grandbabies nearby and they take up much of my day. So I am finally getting to do what I've always wanted to do. The thing I enjoyed the most on your website was the links and I loved that you told the sinners prayer. I too am saved. I am blessed that each of my children knows the Lord along with three grandchildren so far. We have them at ages 9, 7,5,4,2, AND BABY BENJAMIN, HE'S three weeks old yesterday. Two girls, four boys. I will stop by often. I actually went into every part of your site.
I too write poetry. The one I wrote that has been publised I am sending you. You'll love it! It's called
The Garden Beyond
I pictured a garden that I would create
A garden without a garden gate
I pictured a garden against a cottage, white
A garden full of God's pure light.
The garden would be full of flowers all pink,
A few lavender, and white ones distinct
The garden would be be ours in God's morning
and night
It would appeal to our spiritual sight.
This garden is a work never ending
Many hours of toil we'll be spending
To help it grow to a marvelous state
Even without a garden gate.
For we know creation had not a garden gate
But the Heavenly Father was in that estate
Now He walks through our garden each morning
and night
And serenity becomes ours in His true light
For the peace it has brought us deep in our
hearts
What awaits us in heaven and sets us apart
Just knowing a garden up there now awaits
When one day we walk through God's garden gate.
Enjoy! Hugs in Jesus, Cynthia |

With regards to your Knitted slippers, is that a US needle size or is it in mm?
I thought that 9 US would be too small and 9 mm would be to big. I'm a new knitter, if you haven't guessed!
I was thinking of using Lion Brand Thick & Quick yarn instead of holding two strands together.
I really like your site.
Thanks for having it. |

I recently downloaded your Navajo Indian Afghan Jacket pattern. It is beautiful and I am very anxious to make it. However, after printing it, I noticed that it is only for a size 10-12. The pattern says to increase the number of diamonds for larger sizes, but I'm not sure by how many. Would you possibly be able to help me figure out my stitches count and the number of diamonds I would need for a 14-16 and an 18-20? I would really appreciate it and look forward to hearing from you, so I can get started on my sweater. Thank you so much for your time. Karla |

Good morning. I found your site by searching for information on a poem my grandmother would recite every Fall. It began, "Come little leaves said the wind one day...". Your website came up when I used the beginning line and poem, but I can not locate the poem on your website. I would appreciate any information you know (author) and how the poem goes. My mother thinks it may have been a song, but grandmother always recited it as a poem. My mother and I miss her so, and fondly remember all her special ways. Thank you for your time and assistance with our quest.

Enjoyed the poem, made dme think of my father....I would also like to made copies of some of the patterns, but find they are cut off on the right side of the paper, as not centered correctly. Can you tell me how to move the pattern over to the left, so that I might be able to have a full copy of the patterns: or is it that your web site could be off just a hair? Enjoy your web site.
