Mother has left us, her life’s work done.<\/span><\/p>\n

Only one thing leaving, to me, just one.<\/span><\/p>\n

It is her old Bible, all tattered and torn.<\/span><\/p>\n

Each page is wrinkled, soiled or worn.<\/span><\/p>\n

Its condition, atrocious, but not from abuse,<\/span><\/p>\n

It happened through time, with frequent use.<\/span><\/p>\n

From cover to cover, each page was read.<\/span><\/p>\n

You can tell she loved it, by the life she led.<\/span><\/p>\n

\n

Many words are circled, verses underlined.<\/span><\/p>\n

In the margins, other thoughts you will find.<\/span><\/p>\n

Much time in reading, and study was spent,<\/span><\/p>\n

Learning what was written, and just what it meant.<\/span><\/p>\n

No greater treasure, could I possess,<\/span><\/p>\n

Than that old Bible. I am so blessed.<\/span><\/p>\n

Its condition has gone, from bad to worse,<\/span><\/p>\n

As I’ve considered each note and underlined verse.<\/span><\/p>\n

It now holds a place among precious things,<\/span><\/p>\n

Not for its beauty, but for the memories it brings.<\/span><\/p>\n

Every Mother should follow her example and leave,<\/span><\/p>\n

A worn out Bible, to which her daugter can cleave.<\/span><\/p>\n

No greater blessing, could a woman bestow,<\/span><\/p>\n

Than a knowledge of a Savior, who loves us so.<\/span><\/p>\n

Now that I know him, and his promises, won.<\/span><\/p>\n

What more can I say, but, “Thanks Mom”<\/span><\/p>\n
