Knitted Baby Boy Outfit

Materials List:

3 ounces of baby yarn in white

2 ounces of blue or color of your choice

1 Pair each of numbers 1 and 3 knitting needles

2 small buttons.

The directions are given for a 1 year size. Abbreviations: K (knit) dec (decrease) P (purl) O (yarn over) sts. (stitches) tog (together)

GAUGE: 7 sts. equal 1 inch 10 rows equal 1 inch

SHIRT BACK: Using colored yarn and number 1 needles, cast on 80 sts. Fasten off Colored yarn, join white and knit 1 row Work in ribbing of K 1, P 1 for 11 rows. With right side facing, drop white, join colored and K two rows. Drop colored, join white and change to number 3 needles. Work in stockinette st ( K 1 row, P 1 row)until entire piece measures 7 inches, ending on wrong side.

SHAPE ARMHOLES: At beginning of next two rows bind off 3 sts. Dec 1 st each end of needle every other row twice. Work even on 70 sts. until armhole measures 4 inches. SHAPE SHOULDERS: At the beginning of each of the next 4 rows bind off 11 sts for neck. SHIRT FRONT: Work to correspond to back until armhole decreases have been completed. Now make front opening: with right side facing, K 31 sts. rib 8 sts.( place remaining sts on holder). Turn and keep 8 sts of front border in rib, work in stockinette st until armhole measures 2 3/4 inches, at the same time forming 2 buttonholes evenly spaced on front border.

TO FORM BUTTONHOLES: Starting at front edge, work 3 sts, bind off next 2 sts, work to end of row. On the next row cast on 2 sts over those bound off on previous row.

SHAPE NECK: Bind off 13 sts at neck edge every other row 4 times. Work even until armhole measures same as back. Bind off 11 sts twice. Take sts from holder, cast on 8 sts at front edge. Work to correspond with opposite side omitting buttonholes. SLEEVES: Using colored yarn and number 1 needles, cast on 52 sts. Drop colored yarn and join white and K 1 row. Work in ribbing for 5 rows. Drop white, join colored yarn and K 2 rows, inc 4 sts evenly spaced across last row. Drop colored yarn, join white and changee to number 3 needles and work in stockinette st until piece measures 2 inches.

TO SHAPE CAP: At beginning of next 2 rows bind off 3 sts. Dec 1 st each end of needle every other row until 22 sts remain. Bind off 2 sts at beginning of next 2 rows. Bind off.

COLLAR: Using colored yarn and number 3 needles, cast on 98 sts. Drop colored yarn join white and K 1 row. Work in ribbing for 5 rows. Drop white, join colored yarn and K 2 rows, dec 6 sts evenly spaced across last row. Drop colored join white and work in stockinette st untill piece measures 2 inches. Bind off loosely.

FINISHING; Join seams, set in sleeves. Sew collar to neck edge. Sew on buttons. Block to size.

PANTS: Using white yarn and number 1 needles, cast on 74 sts. Drop white, join colored yarn and K 1 row. Work in ribbing for 5 rows.

BEADING: * Work 2 sts,  work 2 sts tog, repeat from * across row. Continue in ribbing for 5 rows ending on wrong side. Drop colored yarn join white and K 2 rows. Drop white, join colored yarn and change to number 3 needles. Work even in stockinette st until piece measures 7 1/2 inches.

 SHAPE CROTCH: Work 25 sts and slip on holder, work 24 sts, slip remaining sts on holder. Work center 24 sts for 2 1/2 inches. Then cast on 25 sts at beginning of each of next 2 rows. Work to correspond with first half of pants.

LEG BAND: With right sides facing, using white yarn and number 1 needles, knit 25 sts from holder, pick up and K 20 sts from crotch, pick up and knit 25 sts from other side, K 1 row. Drop white, join colored yarn and K 1 row. Work in ribbing for 5 rows, drop colored yarn, tie in white and knit 1 row. Bind off loosely

POCKET: using white yarn and number 3 needles, cast oln 15 sts. Drop white, join colored yarn and K 1 row. Work in ribbing for 13 rows. Drop colored yarn join white and K1 row. Bind off loosely

CORD: Make a chain about 28 inches long. Work 1 sc in each chain . Fasten off.

FINISHING: sew side seams. Sew on pocket, block to size. Draw cord through beading and fasten a white pom pon to each end.

Crocheted Baby Hat (as seen in picture)

I used an E hook and baby yarn
Ch 30,
Row 1: Sc in second ch from hook and in ea ch across (29 sc)
Row 2: Ch 2, turn, sc in back loop only (BLO)
Row 3: Ch 2, turn, sc in BLO of first 24 leaving last 5 unworked 
Row 4: Ch 1, turn, sc in BLO of next 24
Row 5: Ch 1, turn, sc in BLO of next 24, sc in last 5 unworked stitches
Rep Rows 3, 4, and 5 until piece measures 10″-12″ from beginning.
making last row, Row 5.  you will end at the top.  Then I pick up a stitch in each row end holding them all on my crochet hook. yarn around crochet hook then slip each stitch over yarn on hook until you end up with just one stitch on hook, yarn over hook and pull yarn tight. keeping last stitch on hook finish as below
Finishing: Holding beginning row together with last row, sl st through both thicknesses to form tube. Cut yarn and fasten off. Weave in ends.
Fold up bottom to form brim.
